Urban Agriculture & Land Use Planning

Urban Agriculture & Land Use Planning Working Group

In partnership with the Prince George’s County Soil Conservation District, this Working Group provides urban farmers and community gardeners with technical assistance and advocacy support to ensure they can operate and grow.

Members were instrumental in supporting the launch of a County Agricultural Resources Advisory Committee to advise legislators and county decision makers on policy and economic development strategies related to local agriculture. Further, members worked with county agencies to advance local food production by identifying County-owned surplus land to lease to local farmers and community gardeners and providing support services to farmers and gardeners leasing the land. Now, members are working to launch an urban farm incubator with ECO City Farms and provide guidance to urban farms on the county’s new zoning ordinance.
