The FEC is working toward ensuring that every resident in Prince George’s County can easily access healthy, affordable, culturally-relevant, and locally produced foods and that marketing and education efforts empower residents to choose these foods.
Prince Geoge’s Fresh: A Pilot Food As Medicine Program
The food as medicine program provides vouchers and nutrition education to participants screened as food insecure. The program is a six-month pilot program to address county health disparities and food insecurity.
Food in Jails Working Group
This coalition seeks to improve the way food is sourced, prepared, and consumed in county jails to advance racial equity, climate justice, food sovereignty, health, and dignity.
Prince George’s County Food Rescue
This program aims to reduce food waste and food insecurity in Prince George’s County. PGC Food Rescue engages volunteers to transfer surplus food from donors to non-profit organizations.
Supporting County Food Assistance Providers
The FEC supports organizations and agencies providing food assistance by providing coordination, resource and best practice sharing, strategic planning, and advocacy.
