Join us for: A CANDIDate Conversation: Food, Farms, and the Future of Prince George's

Join the Prince George's County Food Equity Council and partners during the afternoon of Friday, October 20th, during the annual Bowie State University Food Day Symposium, Healthy Eating, Healthy Living: Using Food to Fight Diabetes, as we discuss the importance of farms and food for our health, and how our County Council candidates plan to improve both.

We’re told that eating fresh foods is key to a healthy lifestyle. Yet, healthier foods are generally more expensive and, in some areas, hard to come by. In our area, despite it being one of the most affluent minority communities in the U.S., many of our neighbors lack access to healthy food options. Advocates in Prince George’s County, Maryland have been working to change that and want elected officials to be part of the solution.

A CANDIDate Conversation: Food, Farms, and the Future of Prince George’s," will provide an opportunity for County Council candidates to join the discussion on the importance of farms and food for resident’s health, and how they, as our County Council candidates, plan to ensure that residents have access to healthy, affordable, sustainably produced, safe, and culturally appropriate food. The forum will be held during the afternoon of the 7th Annual Bowie State University Food Day Symposium.Candidates will be asked to respond to the Prince George’s County Food Equity Council’s 2018 Food Policy Platform and answer related questions during a moderated Q&A panel.

The following candidates will participate in this year’s forum:

  • Dannielle Glaros, District 3

  • Juan Stewart Jr., District 7
